Rick Rietveld was born in southern California, as a young boy he was first introduced to art by his Mother who was a fine artist. He sold his first piece of art with his mother at their community art walks. Rick was an avid surfer which heavily influences his art. He uses bright colours and immense, striking detail creating art which draws in the viewer and transports you to the sandy beaches of California, surfing the waves with the wind in your hair. An iconic piece of Rietvelds’ work are his pieces featuring Albert Einstein. In these works of art Einstein appears to be on holiday in Hawaii with scenes of surfing and playing the ukulele. He uses vibrant colours and elaborate detail making each piece impressively realistic creating a unique and joyful image.
