Whitstable Yacht Club has won a Suzuki-powered safety boat package following a prize draw at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show.

The competition, launched in the lead-up to the show, attracted more than 200 entries from sailing clubs across the country. Five finalists were drawn at random by the Royal Yachting Association and invited to Suzuki’s stand for a live prize draw in front of visitors. Whitstable Yacht Club emerged as the overall winner, with their name pulled from the hat on the day.

Anthony Middleton, Yacht Club Manager, attended the show with his son Dextor to accept the prize.

“We are delighted to have won,” said Anthony. “The boat will be put to really good use within our race and youth development scheme. We are very grateful for the generosity from Suzuki, Avon Marine and Extreme Trailers, and are looking forward to getting out on the water.

A Complete Safety Boat Package

The prize bundle, worth £9,850, includes a River Boats AM Safety 420 supplied by us here at Avon Marina, paired with a Suzuki DF20A outboard and an Extreme Trailers Bunk trailer for easy transport and launching.

Compact, lightweight and efficient, the Suzuki DF20A outboard features battery-less electronic fuel injection for reliable, easy starting and smooth performance. Its Lean Burn fuel control system optimises fuel usage according to operating conditions, making it a practical and economical solution for busy sailing club safety fleets.

This new addition will support Whitstable Yacht Club’s racing calendar and strengthen its youth development programme for seasons to come.
